Kindergarten Prep / Pre-K

We offer a program built on a child’s natural sense of wonder, where your child will discover the joy of learning.

Kindergarten Prep / Pre-K

 Program

The kindergarten prep classroom is a hands-on, discovery-based room that supports each child to learn and develop at his or her own pace. The classroom is arranged into centers that allow children to work individually or in groups, pursue their own interests, and develop independence, creativity and self-esteem. In this program, there is an emphasis on encouraging cooperation, creativity, and involvement in their classroom while learning in a fun, interactive environment.

Preschool vs. Kindergarten Prep

You may be asking yourself what the difference is between preschool and kindergarten prep. Our kindergarten prep program continues and strengthens the development of higher-level thinking skills. As children progress through kindergarten prep the focus becomes school readiness. Children are encouraged to become natural problem solvers. Our program strategically engages the child in new activities such as phonemic awareness and other applicable reading & pre-reading activities, individualized handwriting instruction, exploration of science topics through discussion and classroom activities, and continued focus on mathematical concepts. Our kindergarten prep program teaches children the skills they will need for kindergarten and beyond.

The Curriculum

Through questions and hands-on activities, the children are able to explore, think, predict, and discover more about the world around them. Our science-based curriculum helps children grown in all area of their development including literacy, gross and fine motor skills, writing skills, vocabulary, math, thinking skills, social studies, art, cooking, music, problem-solving, and social skills.

It has been shown that children who are socially competent manage their feelings appropriately, have more consideration for others, cooperation, and even show some success in solving problems. We use the Committee for Children’s Pre-K Second Step program, which teaches skills in empathy, emotion management, impulse control, emotion regulation, anger management, and social problem-solving.

  • For 4-5 year olds.
  • In the kindergarten prep years, children show a growing interest in reading and writing; they grow academically, individually, and socially.
