As a Californian born and raised, the West Coast will always feel like home.

Outside of work, I enjoy relaxing, spending time with family and friends, reading in the sun, traveling, and attending Sounder and Mariner games. We are also a huge dog family and currently in search of the next 4-legged member for our family.

When I was a child in school, I always felt reading was forced and had to learn to read for fun. As an educator, I make it a point to really engage students in their reading journey and I want to show them that reading can be fun. Some favorite books are The Day the Crayons Quit, The Magic Tree House Series, The Book with No Pictures, What to do with a Box, and I am Enough.

Education: I attended college at the University of New Mexico and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education focusing on ESL. I also have 2+ years of ECE credits.

Experience: I have been a kindergarten teacher, office manager, and assistant director—all at Kirkland Children’s School!

With 2 decades of professional educator experience, I strive to provide families a sense of comfort and confidence that we are nurturing lifelong learners and providing the highest quality care and education. I plan to always continue to learn and find new ways to connect to my students, staff, and families.

I’m a first-generation Uchinanchu-American, born in Okinawa and raised in the PNW. I want KCS to be a learning community that welcomes and honors the knowledge, talents, and strengths of each student, knowing that we all come from families that have passed magnificent, loving gifts unto us. I’m excited to come to school daily to work toward those goals and watch our young learners blossom with every season.

Outside of KCS, some of my greatest joys come from nurturing connections to my indigenous identity. I practice and perform the uta-sanshin (Okinawan stringed instrument), cook traditional Okinawan foods for community gatherings, am an active participant in a local club for Okinawan/Ryukyuan diaspora, and am a student of ceramics and pottery. Deepening ancestral connections and examining the joys and gifts I’ve inherited from my home culture have uncovered my biggest strengths, and I want that for all our students too.

Education: I attended UW Bothell and studied Community Psychology and spent my summers in the Catskills teaching painting to children 7-16 years old. After my last summer teaching art in New York, I found KCS and the rest is history.

Experience: During my time at KCS, I’ve been a toddler teacher, preschool teacher, pre-k teacher, a traveling teacher trainer, and assistant director, but my favorite role so far has been program director. I love working with our diligent, passionate, incredibly talented team of teachers and doing my part to lift and empower our educators and celebrate our students and families. You can find me all around KCS, usually covered in art materials.

I am originally from Bothell, WA but I was raised in Maui, HI.

I have been interested in the education field since I was a little girl and began volunteering at local preschools when I was 18. Since then, I have worked in private and public elementary schools, inclusive general and special needs classrooms, preschools, daycares, and provided homeschooling to students during the pandemic. I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from UW.

Early childhood is something that I have always been passionate about and I am always striving to better understand the art of learning and growing. Children motivate me to be myself, to explore the world around me, to be curious and imaginative, and most of all, to love learning.
